It's been so long...

It's been a while since either of us bothered to put anything up, and for that, apologies. Needless to say, Nick and I are trying to sort out our respective lives. Me more than him, anyway. So just a small sketch of how I thought Boss would look like. Ignore the random scribbles if you can T_T. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, we'll have some more concepts up and this project will really take shape.

80's David Bowie to play Volt

For some reason I keep drawing Volt as Bowie now grrrrrr I think zee is on volt sketch duty from now on before I start drawing volt in full Labyrinth getup dancing around with a load of goblins singing "dance magic dance" ah memories
anyway more less bowified sketches tomorrow (maybe)

and in other news Ive finally got back into Snatcher and it really is the stuff of legend, apart from Hotel Dusk a while ago I've never played an adventure game quite like it.
The game feels so fresh despite the limitations of the hardware creating a generally ingrossing world with so many levels of depth that many games lack today.

Lady Owl

Lady Owl is the cool headed espionage expert of the team (aka spy) and helps Volt by gaining intelligence stealing documents and picking the pockets of overly gulible buisness men who've had a little too much to drink at the siren Hilton.
Originally Owl's was designed for a completly different comic that I never quite started for a manga short competition, The original concept for the story was an Indiana Jones style character that jetted around the universe finding alien tombs and artifacts (yep indiana jones in space), anyway that didn't really work out but I really liked the character.

Ok finally after a month or two of being a bum and working Siren is finally back on the agenda (well until Mario galaxy comes out).
anyway i would like to talk about what Siren is all about and go into the backstory a little evetually but for now I'm just going to be a lazy bum and post a load of crappy sketches of mine.
and I apoligise for my writting with some luck this should all make sense someday

first off Id like to introduce you to the stars of the show Volts crew the EX-arms
Being the big Ghost in the shell geek that I am I really wanted Volt to be the leader of a team much like section 9 in GITS.
During the war that precedes the Siren story The Ex-Arms were one of the most respected and highly sort after group of mercenaries in the world getting involoved in all sorts of espionage, assasination and inteligence gathering.
However times have changed and the organisation Volt and his comrades belonged to ARM-12 is now long forgotten but the skills of spies and gunmen are still very much in demand in a city as corrupt as Siren.

Hey there, here's a sketch I did of Volt last week. I was inspired after watching a gamer review on youtube of Hideo Kojima's Snatcher, which is an amazing game to say the least. It's a cross between Terminator, Blade Runner and Invasion Of the Body Snatchers, though I'm pretty sure there's a longer list of influences. If you ever get the chance to play it then do so, immediately. It really is an amazing game. I know Nick's currently in the midst of playing through it and loving it. Good man.^^
Anyway, when I envision Volt I tend to see him as a more 'worn out', slightly older version of Rick Deckard from Blade Runner. I came up with this look a bit by accident. Face-wise I was just 'going with the flow'. That's pretty much how I tend to approach any of my artwork, sort of like letting the work draw itself. Anyway I quite liked the way this one turned out. The rest of the body was just that 'gum-shoe'/'private-eye' look tacked on. I have to admit I liked the way his clothing, particularly the bottom of his trench coat, looks since I can't draw fabric or garments to save my life. Personally, I prefer Nick's rendition of Volt, for it's unique look and feel. Not surprising since this is all his idea. I'm thinking about doing more environmental drawings now, though, as A) I can't draw them and it'd make good practice and B) because I wanna have some fun seeing what I can come up with for Siren. I'll do my best to try and keep this updated.^^

Welcome to Siren stuff the work in progress blog for Project Siren a joint web comic project thats still in the ideas phase.
At the momnt theres not really a lot to show other than this cool graffiti doodle by zee of what main character volt may look like but hopefully in the next couple of months we should be able to shed some light on the project.

Sorry to keep things kind of vague at the begining and ill try to add some cooler stuff this week.
